Castle Farms Wedding

May 25, 2024

A beautiful Castle farms wedding on May 25, 2024. This beautiful northern michigan wedding was at the lovely Castle Farms wedding venue in Charlevoix Michigan. Our day started at the family cottage on Lake Charlevoix. We started with the brides beautiful details, and proceeded into the bride into her stunning lace detailed dress with her mom and maid of honor. Once dressed the bride had scheduled for me to capture 3 first looks. One with her grandparents, her brother and her dad. All positioned one down from the other on a path that lead down to the lake where dad awaited. We started on the covered deck, made our way down the boardwalk to her brother and then onto the rocks along the water of Lake Charlevoix. Dad finally got to see his daughter all dressed as a beautiful bride. It was a beautiful and emotional moment for them.

From there we left onto the ferry to head to Castle Farms wedding venue where the groom was awaiting his brides arrival. He was kept hidden and they met behind the stone castle wall and held hands and read touching and thoughtful vows they both wrote for each other. After they read their vows we had moved them to another location into the butterfly garden at Castle Farms wedding venue for their first look. They embraced each other with big smiles, love, hugs and lots of kisses. The thing I love about castle farms wedding venue is the landscaped areas are beautiful and there are so many spots around castle farms to get the most amazing photos. Plus what bride does not want to get married in a castle. We headed out to the beach for a beautiful blue water lake michigan backdrop before heading back to castle farms for more photos of the wedding party. The groomsmen wore blue and the bridesmaids wore a dusty pink with the most beautiful spring floral bouquets. One of the brides Nana’s was a bridesmaids and she had a blast getting photos with everyone, she was smiling from ear to ear in every photo.

At castle farms wedding venue, there are several areas where you can have your ceremony and reception. The reception was in The King’s Great Hall is a very grand room overlooking the entire Castle Farms property through spectacularly tall windows. With a true ‘Castle’ feel, the stone walls are topped with a formally finished and elevated ceiling that adorn twelve magnificent iron chandeliers. The reception room welcomes your guests through a stately foyer that also opens out to a second-story balcony with views of the property’s gardens and the Reflection Pond. Paired with the Queen’s Courtyard for ceremony location, the lovely couple started their wedding day in one of the Castle’s most memorable courtyards adorn with 3 stone arches for the backdrop. The ceremony was beautiful and the couple took communion put there vows and a bottle of wine into a time capsule while family and friends prayed over their rings as they were passed around. had their first kiss and headed down the aisle as husband and wife. they had a dip planned and surprised us all with a rose petal toss during the dip. The added pink flower petals added such a beautiful touch to that moment.

We celebrated with amazing food, wonderful speeches and toast and the best choreographed dance with bride, father of the bride, groom, and mother of groom I’ve ever seen. They cut cake and well the bride surprised me on that too, because she ended up smashing cake in the grooms face. I never know how these are going to go. She helped clean him up and took to the dance floor for more dancing. During the dancing we snuck away for some sunset photos and to venture out to some areas were didnt get to earlier in the day. Castle farms has a beautiful pond in back overlooking the castle, and a water fountain in the front with the castle in the background. These make for some amazing photos and ones worthy of framing for the living room.

This was a special day in many ways. There were so many special moments and ways the bride and groom incorporated family and God into their day. It’s one filled with so much love for one another, and one i will never forget. Each couple i have the honor of working with and capturing these special moments means so much to me. It is always an honor and privilege I cherish forever.

About Castle Farms Wedding Venue

With a rather unconventional start over 100 years ago, the stunning lake-stone structures, that are now called Castle Farms, have been utilized to bring many visions to life as the decades have passed. Each owner put their own unique spin on the Castle’s French-inspired architecture; however, the buildings ultimately fell into ruin. Highs school sweethearts, Linda and Richard, took on the project of a lifetime in 2001 by beginning their renovation and restoration of the Castle to (and beyond) its original grandeur. Their vision has brought this picturesque and perfectly hidden gem back to life with the intent that couples would have the perfect backdrop for their wedding experience here. There are several options for ceremony and reception, and usually there are more than a couple weddings going on at one time. I have yet to run into any problems with this and the venue and coordinator have been great with making sure it’s well organized. you may run into another wedding party taking photos where you want to but usually i found another spot and go back and there have moved along from there. All in all it’s a great place to have your wedding.
