Francesca and Ben’s wedding day was the perfect representation of what makes Michigan weddings so unforgettable—soft fall light, meaningful traditions, and heartfelt moments shared with the people who matter most. As a Michigan wedding photographer, days like theirs are some of my favorites to document because they effortlessly blend elegance, emotion, and personal storytelling.
Although their celebration took place in October, Francesca chose a beautiful color palette of blues, soft pinks, and greens, bringing a fresh, romantic feel to a season that’s often filled with oranges and burgundy tones. It created the perfect visual balance alongside the gentle clouds, yellow leaves, and occasional sun that peeked through the day.
A traditional Catholic Ceremony Filled With Grace
Their ceremony was held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Grand Rapids—a classic, beloved location for couples who want a traditional Catholic Mass. Francesca walked down the aisle wearing a blusher veil, creating one of the most timeless entrances I’ve ever photographed. The moment her blusher lifted felt sacred, tender, and full of anticipation. Ben waited anxiously for Francesca to get closer to him, and as she approached, he was filled with so much emotion waiting for the veil to lift to see her face.
The ceremony was intimate and reverent. Francesca moved with grace, and Ben’s reaction said everything about the love they share. These are the kinds of moments that define meaningful wedding photography—quiet, emotional, and completely unscripted.
A Storybook Horse and Carriage Send Off
After the ceremony, Francesca and Ben stepped outside to their guest waving ribbon wands as they walked to get into into a charming horse and carriage—a true fairytale moment. Guests cheered as they rode off together, a beautiful celebration of tradition meeting timeless romance. Scenes like this photograph effortlessly and create the kind of images couples treasure for decades.
Romantic, Graceful, and Story-Driven
Following the ceremony, the day unfolded with the most beautiful stillness. Francesca and Ben slipped into a rhythm that was completely their own—quiet smiles, intertwined hands, and soft glances that said everything without a single word.
Nothing felt forced. Every moment revealed itself naturally: the way she leaned into him, the way he steadied her hand, the way they seemed to breathe in sync. It was a gentle reminder that some of the most powerful wedding images come from simply witnessing love as it is. The wedding party’s energy was soft yet fun, pairing perfectly with the more refined and elegant moments of the day. this balance of curated and candid imagery is at the heart of my approach as a michigan Wedding Photographer-making space for real emotion while still elevating every moment with intention.
A Joy-Filled reception at Watermark Country Club
The reception was full of laughter, heartfelt toasts, and a room overflowing with love for Francesca and Ben. As the evening went on, the atmosphere became even more joyful—glowing lights, meaningful dances, and the kind of celebration that reminds you why weddings are so beautiful.
