This classic black and white wedding at Leona Road was one filled with so much amazing modern and vintage charm. Leona Road is located right in the west side of Grand Rapids. What was an old elementary school, is now an amazing event venue filled with stylish decor and natural light. Leona Road was completely renovated with Scandinavian modern styling with large open spaces that features so much charm. Sarah and Jordan have an a unique style, and you could see all Sarah’s creativity at work in this space. Sarah thought of everything, and the touches of florals, and decor made the space so beautiful. The ceremony space was decorated with a deconstructed floral arch of roses and baby’s breath, and florals on the chairs. This is their space where the couple had their intimate first look, with the stunning wood wall feature behind them. They shared hugs and kisses and where met by their two little Cavalier king charles pups. We ventured in a shuttle downtown to some of my favorite spots for some classic photos with the couple and the wedding party, before heading back to Leona Road for the ceremony. Sarah walked down the aisle soft sounds of the string orchestra playing in the background. The couples 2 Cavalier King Charles spaniel dogs Henri and Lady walked down the aisle and were included in the day with signature drinks and stir sticks. The groom wore a black velvet suit jacket,which was perfect for a crisp fall november wedding day. The bride wore a romantic Anthropologie wedding gown with ruched sleeves and eyelash lace atop the wrapped bodice and a cathedral veil with pearl embellished Jimmy Choo bridal pumps. She couldn’t have looked more elegant. The groomsmen and the bridesmaids also wore black, and the bridesmaids black velvet dresses, were so classic, and romantic.
The bridal bouquet was filled with the most beautiful white orchids, baby’s breath and hanging green amaranthus. The reception space at leona Road is stunning. Its open and airy, with huge exposed ceilings, and stunning hanging lights that fit the space perfectly. The reception space was filled with soft black and white colors and pops of greenery with warm wood chairs. Each table had different florals. It was welcoming and so charming. The bride left no detail out, from the newspaper invitations, vintage phone audio book, classic 2 tiered cake with velvet ribbon, custom seating chart, silver vintage cart to push around to guest to hand serve out nothing bundt cakes, and a homemade ice cream from a vintage ice cream truck parked out front of Leona Road to top it all off. The couple enjoyed feeding each other ice cream and having some intimate moments next to the ice cream truck.
Sarah, smiled the entire day. Nothing but joy radiated from her, and you can see in all their photos what this day meant to them, and how much they love each other. After the couple served guest their cake, and said hello to each table, it was time to get the party started. Sarah changed into a strapless short dress with long back bow to celebrate her night on the dance floor. The couple danced the night away as husband and wife. It was such a special evening with these two. I couldn’t have felt more honored and blessed to be apart of the day, and to capture all the treasured memories they will have for a lifetime.This classic black and white Leona road wedding was a dream to photograph. Originally built in 1916 as West Leonard Elementary School and fully renovated in 2020-2021, Leona Road is a wedding and event venue with Scandinavian Modern styling. The walls are packed with windows including a large bay along the natural wood’ barrel roof in the reception hall, the space is flooded with natural light that will look great in pictures. And with 19,000 square feet of indoor space dedicated to your event, a large outdoor terrace and free onsite parking, there is plenty of room to host your wedding for up to 300 guests.

We will meet with you to develop a custom floor plan for your event and would also be happy to schedule a meeting to assist with linen and tablescape options, 2) Event Setup: Setup tables and chairs and stage all personal decor, 3) Tear it Down: When your party is over, we’ll pack it all up and put everything in the boxes they came in, 4) Month and Day of Coordination: We’ll help plan your full timeline and coordinate the details with your vendors the week of your event. Our team will manage your event including ceremony, entrance, toasts and sendoff and will work closely with your vendors to ensure everything runs smoothly.
